Author: Sophie Avett
Genre: Dark BDSM Fantasy Romance
Lengths: 40k installments / 4 parts in all

The Darkest Night: Part One
Owner and operator of Bits and Pieces, and resident expert on charms and glamours, Elsa Karr is a witch with a sour frown and a list of things to do as long as Thor’s hammer. Top of the list is saving her father's shop from ruin. If she isn't trying to claw her way out of debt, she's arguing with her cat, Fenris, or shoveling carts of cake into her gob. She's not interested in romance or the vampire who rents the flat above her shop. All she wants is a little peace and chocolate--fine, all right! All right! The vampire is kind of screw all cute. (Curse him.)

The disgraced son and heir of the Wingates House vampire clan and a mad-man to boot, Marshall Ansley spends most of his time working and dodging his mother's phone calls. Marshall is beyond family. He's beyond everyone, actually. Don’t be daft, he especially doesn't do…Christmas. But behold, the plague brings an original flavor of annoyance this year when his boss tasks him with acquiring the account of a recluse fey and her upcoming Gothic clothing boutique, Sinister Stitches. That is the ONLY reason he's bothering with his shrewish landlord. No, that's it. No…really. Fine, if you insist, the witch might be a tad bit...all right, she's adorable. (Damn her.)

Scrooge meets Scrooge. Dominant meets Dominant. Tempers…spark. In each other, they may unfold a tale that only comes to pass on the darkest of nights.

The Darkest Night: Part Two
Return to the horrible and haunted New Gotham in the second installment of The Darkest Night: An Erotic Fairy Tale.

Our vampire prince charming, Marshall Ansley has done the unthinkable. Now, he intends to do the unforgivable. Elsa Karr will be his. At least for one night. It's the only way to end the spell she has over him. This little angel is going to learn what it is to hold hands with the Devil. She's going to learn her place. Or so help him, he'll mount her on crucifix and cast her overboard the Palatine Lite. Drown her. Murder her. Over and over again. Deal be damned.

Little does our vampire prince charming know, New Gotham's Anti-Cinderella is no one's prey. Let the darkest night begin...

The Darkest Night: Part Three
Return to the horrible and haunted New Gotham in the third installment of The Darkest Night: An Erotic Fairy Tale.

Marshall Ansley, our vampire prince charming, is finally under Elsa's spell. Figuratively and literally. Their epic battle of wills continues, but they haven't the time to worry with that right now. Bits and Pieces must be saved, Sinister Stitches must be signed--there is grand Christmas ball to survive. (Oh, what an ordeal.) Meanwhile, trouble is sailing toward them... Someone is coming... Someone bad... It could be a vampire. It might be a witch. Only time and the stroke of midnight will tell.

The Darkest Night: Part Four
Return to the horrible and haunted New Gotham in the fourth and final installment of The Darkest Night: An Erotic Fairy Tale.

New Gotham's vampire prince charming and Anti-Cinderella will have to face off against worthy foes...and each other. There is nowhere for Marshall to hide anymore. There is nowhere for Elsa to run. Perhaps, the vampire will make choices he never dreamed he would. Perhaps, Elsa will make some surprising choices of her own. Tune into the last and final act of this deliciously dark fairy tale.

“Vampire.” Her arm was sunk into her carpet bag. Moonlight beating down on her shoulders, casting her face in shadows, save for the glow of her lush green eyes. She brandished a wooden paddle from the depths of her bag. It was long like it could’ve belonged to a canoe. Bird feathers, beads and teeth swung from the leather twined around the sleek handle. Deep cherry red stained wood, the flat was smooth, a couple inches thick and wide with decorative ribbing carved into the edges. “If you have seen my desires, then you have seen Mjölnir. So named after Thor’s hammer.”

As if coming to life at her words, twilight touched the wood, calligraphic swirls of Unseelie language glowed green. They thrummed as she wheeled the instrument around like a staff, expertly passing the windmill from one hand to another. “Are you able to kneel and take your punishment without being shackled?”

Howdy! So here goes... I generally don’t read these sort of books so for this lay to get this from me they had to pretty frikken awesome!
I give this a well deserved 4.5 stars.
Let me start by saying I do not read paranormal, fantasy or any other sort of other worldly books – at all. Like never. So simply for getting me to read not one but four Sophie has something special and deserves all the stars I can give!
The world building and scene setting is phenomenal in this book and had me feeling as if I was there right from the beginning.
Marshall and Elsa are characters I could relate and enjoyed watching their interactions and the relationship as it developed. Sexy, romantic and just dark enough to satisfy my little black heart. A story that swept me away to another place and kept me there until the very end.
Sophie has maybe, just maybe made me reconsider my stance on books in this genre – she is good!

Sophie Avett is kind of a nerd. Like not even one of the cute, hip ones everyone brags about nowadays. More like the socially awkward hippie who eats way too much bread and dreams about being a dragon from behind towers of mythology books. Um...yeah. Picture old, tattered paperbacks and comic books--mostly Batman and Wonder Woman--dwarfing a tiny desk, with just barely enough room for the troll who writes there and the 70 pound hell-hound that insists on laying its wet nose on top of her bare foot.

Granted not the most exciting existence, but she tries to make up for it by writing romances populated with her own peculiar ilk of paranormal beasties. Trolls, wyverns, the obscure Nordic brownie--she likes to keep things interesting. And bloody. (And mostly naked--but, we'll keep that bit between us.)

Sophie Avett loves to hear from her readers. (Hi, mom.) So if there's something on your mind, feel free to leave a message after the scream.

(Mom, you can just call me. Seriously.)
