ROMAN CRAZY REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

A delicious, sexy, laugh-out-loud modern romance about a newly single woman and her journey to find love again in ROMAN CRAZY from New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton and debut author Nina Bocci (Gallery Books; on sale September 13, 2016; Trade Paperback $16.00).

Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her wounds—and perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.

Marcello was the man—the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello…
Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

A celebration of great friendship, passionate romance, and wonderful food, Roman Crazy is a lighthearted story of second chances and living life to the fullest.

WOW this is more like a ten star read. I always love Alice's writing but add Nina and you have a writing match made in heaven. The emotion this stirred in me was amazing and the comedy side was fun. To be fair the writing was just electric.  The idea is perfect, a second chance romance in Rome and the way everything was described made me feel there rather than just reading the book. I pray these two talented ladies write more of us. BEST READ OF THE YEAR SO FAR

Being able to stand on your own two feet sometimes requires getting knocked off them completely…

McKenzie “Kenzie” Lane is newly graduated from college and looking forward to a dream internship she has lined up for the summer in LA. Unfortunately, her controlling mother has other plans.

Colby Singer, with his hot-as-sin looks and wicked charm, is never without attention from the ladies.  Despite suspecting how Kenzie feels about him, he’s always kept her comfortably off-limits since she’s the baby sister of one of his best friends. But when he’s determined to distract her temporarily from the stress of her mother’s ultimatum, deciding to show her some fun, he quickly finds that keeping her in the friend zone is not as easy as he’d hoped.

Once Kenzie realizes this may be her last opportunity to gauge her long-time crush’s true feelings, she puts it all out there in the form of a bet. It's the perfect idea for her perfect man.

Until he isn’t.

OH MY GOD I freaking love Aubrey Bondurant, her writing is so good she was me me fully invested in every book. Bet me something had me so hooked from the first page. Of course I have read Aubrey’s books so I had some back story between Colby and  Kenzie.  If you have read Aubrey’s other books then Kenzie is Brian’s younger sister and Colby is Josh’s younger brother. This book was an actual first for me as in a got really well and truly turned on while reading . Aubrey can write I mean she CAN BLOODY WELL WRITE AND IS FANFREAKINGLY FANTASIC AT IT.  Repeating the words by another reviewer Samantha, Aubrey is amazing at writing engaging character’s. I count myself lucky to be gifted an arc but even luckier to be Aubrey’s friend.

Will a dose of reality lead to true love? Or will it crash and burn before it can even get started?

Full Length Standalone book with no cliffhanger. Third book of the “Something Series”

Recommended for mature readers due to situations of language, and sexual content.

Excerpt: He ran his tongue first over one nipple, then the other, while his thumb and fingers continued touching between my legs and making my hips rise up of their own accord.  Branford’s fingers dipped farther inside of me, and I felt them curl up as I stiffened and cried out in short, panting breaths.  His fingers retreated quickly, leaving me suddenly empty and somewhat confused. At the same time, he released my breast from his lips and made a light trail down the center of my body, stopping at my navel.  My fingers moved from his shoulder to his hair, and I let the wonderfully soft strands glide between my fingers.  Branford’s gaze tilted upwards, looking at me, smiling his half smile, and making my stomach clench inside.  While his eyes were still locked with mine, he reached out with his tongue and ran the edge of it around my navel, and I shivered.  Branford grinned, kissed the skin just below the little indentation, then started moving farther down.  Much farther down. “What are you doing?” I breathed, my eyes wide. “Kissing you,” he responded with an arch of his brow.  He tilted his head and kissed first one hipbone, then the other.  He slid his hand down my side, over my hip, down my leg, and then curled around my knee.  He lifted my leg, laying it over his shoulder while he continued to watch my face.  As his intent became clearer to me, my breath caught in my throat, and I whimpered. “Branford…” “Shh…” I felt his lips brush softly over the skin of my inner thigh, and he slowly continued a line of kisses up the inside of my leg while I lay back, horrified at what he was doing.  I remembered the feeling of his fingers between my legs, stroking and fondling me until I was screaming out for him in the middle of the forest, and I remembered the feeling of his tongue across my bare nipples. My breath escaped me in gasps as his tongue reached out and took a long lick from my opening to the tiny, intense spot at the top of my folds.  His darkened eyes stayed trained to mine as he swirled the tip of his tongue in a small circle around the little nub.  I whimpered, panted, and grasped at the blanket below me as his lips joined his tongue, wrapping around my flesh—licking and sucking as he had done to my breasts only moments before.  An instant later, his fingers joined his mouth, and I felt him slide them slowly back into me—moving in and out leisurely as his tongue circled and pressed against me.

AP new - synopsis.jpg

I'm not a good man.
I'm not a bad man.
But I've made some bad mistakes, made the wrong choices.
Who hasn't? But the consequences are tearing us apart.

I love two people.
I love them differently.
The world tells me I have to choose. Why? Why do I have to choose?
Loving hurts. Dancing heals.

Love makes you soar, makes you fly and sets you free—and then it lets you freefall until you're smashed and bleeding on the ground. Ultimately, love is the worst thing that can happen to a human being.

Im my opinion.
I love two people.
I love them differently.
One is a man.
One is a woman.
And they are brother and sister.

**** A stand alone novel in the best-selling Rhythm Series. ****

AP new - excerpt.jpg

“Two minutes to curtain,” called out the stage manager.
We all hustled to take our places for the first number, and Ash walked with Laney as she wheeled herself to a spot where she could watch from the wings.
I felt a shiver of anticipation skitter across my skin, and I stretched my arms over my head before shaking them out, keeping flexible, keeping moving.
“God, I’ll never get enough of this,” whispered Sarah. “I hate it and I love it.”
I knew exactly what she meant. The nerves never really stopped, but the second I stepped on stage, adrenaline and muscle memory took over. My body would respond before my brain felt the fear of dancing in front of a thousand strangers.
I could hear the audience, hear their breaths, feel their excitement, feel the heat rolling forward from the press of bodies.
And then the house lights sank and the theater dropped into darkness, the electricity of expectancy lighting a fuse.
Al, the conductor, tapped his baton, and there was a collective breath as the band prepared to play, fingers hovering above keys and strings, the drummer poised, tension in his arms.
Then the music blasted out in an explosion of sound and light, and I was on stage, alive, powerful, doing what I was born to do.
I became the role, I lived the dance, blood pounding through my veins, my muscles coiled and released as I lunged and leapt, my arms sweeping through the space around me, filling it with spirals of strength and emotion.
Nothing could beat this feeling, this intensity, this desire to drink from the well of life.
And it was magnificent.
For a split second, I caught Ash’s eye, and we shared something that only another dancer can understand—a connection, an emotion so fleeting, I could have dreamed it.
I feel it too, brother.
Two hours later, we stood bathed in sweat under the bright stage lights, smiles on our faces and tears in our eyes, soaking up applause as the crowd rose to their feet, cheers and whistles soaring above the roar. My chest heaved from the exertion, but also from the deep emotion that dancing always brought to me, and I knew that everyone on this stage felt the exact same way.
Sarah stood next to me, tears running down her face, happy tears; tears of achievement and joy; tears of satisfaction and sorrow that it was all over. The end of a performance was a birth—the memories of the audience would live on—and a death, too, as another show ended. So tonight, we were celebrating and grieving.
“I’m going to miss this so fucking much,” she sobbed, staring up at me, then out at the cheering crowd. “God, I’m going to miss you, Luka, you bloody great hunk of sexy Slovenian.”
“I’ll miss you too, buča,” I said sincerely, leaning down to kiss her cheek, tasting the salt of her tears.
All the dancers linked hands, raising our arms in the air as we took our final bow. Ash stepped forward, looking down at the band and applauding them, too. Then he clasped his hands together and pressed them to his heart, before waving to the audience and leaving the stage.
Yveta, Gary and Oliver stepped forward with me and Sarah to take our bows as co-leads, then we too left the stage.
And it was all over.
The applause drained away as the curtain fell for the last time and the house lights came up.
Then it was the slow descent to normalcy as we peeled away the roles we’d played, along with our costumes, wigs and makeup.

Jane Harvey-Berrick never disappoints me in her writing. I love how each story or series can vary so much. This book is the second in a series. You probably could read this book as a stand alone but I would highly recommend you read the first in this series before you begin "Luka". It will help you appreciate certain characters in the story and the baggage they carry from their past and how it impacts Luka in a good or bad way. Luka was such a lovely complex multi-faceted man. Nothing is simple about him or the situations he finds himself in. She did such a great job of writing someone that made me feel all of his sadness, anger, vulnerability, confusion, and elation. Luka is someone who avoids falling in love, yet he has a magnetism that draws so many to him that they cannot help but fall in love with him. I liked how unpredictable the story was and that I was unsure of how it would end and most importantly, how I wanted it to end. Yet, I loved going on this emotional journey with Luka.
This story left me wanting more. Please tell me there is another book on Luka! I have not had quite enough of him yet.
