"I hate you. I hate you with all of Sylvia's heart."
Helen has waited for months for the heart that will save her life.
After reaching out to the grieving mother of her donor heart, Helen
realises that a second chance comes at a price. The price, she soon
realises, is much steeper than she'd ever have chosen to pay.
There's more than one way to break a heart. There's more than one way to destroy a life...
Emotional, Heart breaking, Chilling in fact this is just a Brilliant bloody read.
Every minute counts when your waiting for a new heart, Will you live to get one ? Will you survive the operation, Will your body reject it if you do ?. Dare you have that glass of wine sat there taunting you what if your beeper goes off would you still be able to go ahead ?. How would you feel if your time was slowly coming to and end and you were only 45? Would you resent those around you for being healthy ? Would your marriage survive the strain ? These are all questions that went through my head as i read this. This is a short read took me just over an hour i think so probably two hours for most as i’m a speed reader.
of course Helen got her new heart and with it a new sense of self. Her biggest mistake ? writing a letter to the transplant hearts family. Helen doesn't feel wanted or respected by her husband (i cant say i would have either) so when the lovely doctor shows an interest Helen thinks this may be a bump for her dying confidence right or wrong. The transplant hearts mother comes on the scene and things just don’t add up for Helen she feels torn between being grateful and being deeply concerned. Is Marian just being kind or does she have an ulterior motive ?
5 chilling stars.
